On a Midsummer's night, four young lovers find themselves wrapped in the dream-like arms of an enchanted forest where sprites lurk and fairies rule. While a feuding Fairy King and Queen are at war, their paths are crossed by a group of actors putting on a play. Chief mischief-maker Puck is on-hand to ensure that the course of true love is anything but smooth and games of fantasy, love and dreams ensue in Shakespeare's most popular comedy.
SHOW DATES: June 9-11, 2023 at the Palmdale Playhouse. Located at 38334 10th St. E., Palmdale
AUDITION DATES: March 31st from 6:30-10:00 PM
April 1st from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Auditions will be held at the PRT Space located at 38847 20th St. E., Ste. G, Palmdale

Humans:
Lovers:
Hermia (Teen - Young Adult Female): Confident, feisty, defiant, kind, caring. In love with Lysander against her father’s wishes.
Lysander (Teen - Young Adult Male/Female): Eager, romantic, witty. In love with Hermia.
Helena (Teen - Young Adult Female): Devoted, strong, quick-tempered. Hermia’s best friend and deeply in love with Demetrius, who does not love her back.
Demetrius (Teen - Young Adult Male): Haughty, rude, arrogant, determined. In love with Hermia and willing to fight for her.
Other Humans:
Theseus (Adult Male): Egeus’ family friend. He is preparing for his wedding to Hippolyta.
Hippolyta (Adult Female): Theseus’ fiance. Strong Amazonian woman.
Egeus (Adult Male / Female): Hermia’s father/mother. Strict, traditional, and vehemently opposed to Hermia and Lysander’s relationship.
Philostrate (Adult Male / Female): Theseus’ assistant.
Mechanicals:
Bottom (Adult Male): The weaver. An over-zealous and over-confident man chosen to play the lead in the play being put on for Theseus’ wedding. *STRONG COMEDIC ROLE*
Quince (Adult Male / Female: The carpenter. Level-headed leader of the troupe who organizes the play.
Flute ( Young Adult Male/Female): The mender. Young, naive, silly.
Starveling (Adult Male / Female): The tailor. Grumpy, irritable
Snout (Adult Male / Female): The tinker. Dim witted, foolish, forgetful
Snug (Adult Male / Female): The joiner. Shy, sweet, impressionable
FAERIES:
Titania (Adult Female): Jealous, stubborn, regal. Queen of the Faeries.
Oberon (Adult Male): Proud, petty, vengeful. King of the Faeries.
Puck (Teen - Young Adult Male / Female): Mischievious, witty, playful. The prankster of the show, he ends up being the cause of most of the mischief that ensues in the play.
Peaseblossom/Cobweb/Moth/Mustardeed (Children - Teen Female/Males): Loyal faerie attendants to Titania.
